Andy Thomas started Thomas and Milliken Millwork back in 1977 with his wife Gloria.  Since then they have seen the business develop and evolve into the number one millshop in Northern Michigan.  Andy comes from a long line of workworkers dating back to his great-grandfather who built many of the homes in Northport.  "Woodworking is in my blood.  I started out of college making autoharps in my parents basement.  That quickly morphed into patenting a line of wood outdoor furniture.  From there it's history.  We now sell our products around to U.S. and currently are working with the Hotel Kimpton project on Grand Cayman island. We are fortunate in that we have great employees who work hard and with great attention to detail."  The road up to Northport, M22, has just been voted the most scenic fall color tour route in the country.  So make the beautiful drive up to Northport and meet Andy or email him

I began my career with Thomas & Milliken in 1990 after working at Chrysler and owning my own business for several years.  I started out in sales, making cold calls on builders and architects, and doing some estimating.  For the past several years I have been involved in mostly commercial projects as estimator and project manager.

Having been part of a dedicated and talented tema of employees that has seen the company grow from a small local supplier of architectural products to an international firm has been exciting to say the least. The daily challenges of complex projects make the work very satisfying.

I have been married to my wife Irene for 47 years and have lived in Northport for the last 37 years.  Both of our children graduated from the Northport school system and have presented us with six better than average grandchildren.  Basil is in the Coast Guard stationed in north Carolina and very recently married, Emily is working in Traverse City having graduated from Michigan State,  Autumn is at Michigan State, Bill is at Alpena Community College and Marcus and Austin are still at Northport High School.  We love spending our leisure time following the grandkids in their high school activities, traveling and playing golf.

I've been with Thomas & Milliken for over 15 years.  As office manager I wear many hats, which can make my job both interesting and challenging.

I came to Thomas & Milliken after working 12 years with another county manufacturing company that relocated to north Carolina.

I am very happy that I joined the Thomas and Milliken family.

I have been married to Al for over 35 years and we reside in Lake Leelanau where we raised our three daughters. We enjoy camping and traveling to South Dokta to visit our one daughter and husband.  You can contact kathy at
